it aint just about the decks like i said a cheap mixer aint gunna last long needles aint cheap an vinyl is like fuckin heroin expensive an very moorish
an olstar is right thats y i said technics cheaper decks are so hard to learn on an once u pgrade it takes ages to learn to mix on better decks
dj'in is a fuckin expensive hobby man keep that in mind

I used to have decks, Stanton direct drives. They weren't exactly cheap but still had no power really despite being direct drive. I liked the ease with which you could stop and speed up the platter though personally, I found it easier than the mad powerful technics
I'd say get the cheapest belt drives you can get to start with - If you're still into it in a year or two then buy 1210's
The "halfway between the two" style direct-drives are still weak as you like

Already got a decentish speaker setup, although as it stands i may be able to get a free pair of direct drive numarks for free off my mate, as hes going up to 1210s when his money from the record company come through.

Technics all the way mate, they're built to last! I've hade mine for around 20 years and they're still working like a charm - and god knows they've been working HARD!
