Hi People,
Just dropping in to introduce myself and give you my back story.
My first experience of the adidas SS was back in school round about 99.  One of the hard black kids at school first appeared with a pair on.  Everyone was wearing nike back then so he stood out, specially with his black school trousers on, with a white trainer. (navy stripes).  I was big into Limp Bizkit in those days, and remember seeing a picture of Fred Durst in the Significant Other album booklet wearing a pair.  After being in a JJB Sports, (remember them) my Mom caved in under the constant pressure I put her under and my old man got me a pair.  Same as the black kid at my school.  I bowled in the next day with my fresh SS.  I remember the black kid saying "I've got a pair of them mate."  Which I pretended not to of ever noticed them on his feet and said, "oh, av ya?" He knew it was bullshit though looking back. haha!
A few years later I got another pair in Spain on holiday with my family. Round about 2002-ish.  White with greeny gold metallic stripes.  Proper eye catchers.  I even remember a fit bird from school mentioning them to me when we were on a school trip to Manchester.
Then it's been a 13 year absence from the SS.  Why?  I do not know?  Looking back, this trainer has been the only one that has ever had any complements from, what I can say, at the time, significant people.  The hard kid and the stunning girl at school.  In your teenage years, do you need any more recognition from anyone else really? haha!  It's always stood out in my memory.
Like everyone, I've gone on a trainer journey over the past 10 years or so, but from mid 2015, I went back to the SS and it bought all those memories back.  The people, the music, the situations and places.Â
I hope to contribute to this forum as much as I can.
