i'm really surprised that Raptors get so much attention (eek, i sound like Rob calling Blunts overhyped). it's odd to me. most people have favorite sports teams regardless of the country or sport and wear the team's respective jersey or ball cap. but wearing a shoe with a sports team on it, i thought, was always kind of a nerdy thing to do. like an overboard team fanatic. "dude. come on. sneakers?" i was once looking for some black "USA" SS2's made in conjunction with the Olympics a few years back. some SSDB members heckled me about "Americans are always proud to wear their flag on everything". i never snagged a pair by the way. but, isn't this the same line of reasoning... sports team on your Supe or country flag on your Supe? Tif... would you wear Supes with Yankee logos and wording on them or Duke University?

I agree to some extent, I support Manchester United but would never wear trainers with their logo on, they would, I think, be hideous!
The raptors on the other hand, I didn't even know they are anything to do with a sports team, they don't look it.

I don't understand the hype around these either like with the Blunts but I think the team logo thing has to do with how close you are to the actual sport/league. I wouldn't wear anything with Swedish teams or flag on but have no problem with teams from other countries.

I've never been a fan of any team. Raptors as well as Cavaliers just look good to me. Yeah there is a logo but I don't care about it.
Raptors are very nice. Simple but there's still that little something to make them special. I like them and couldn't care less even if it had Britney Spears face instead of a logo.

Deep red suede heel tab, lizard skin effect stripes and 3m flaming basketball detail, not to mention the white on white upper, black shell and red out-sole, fucking genius! Sold my pair of Berlin 35ths soon after as they were no match for the mighty Raptors!
With God's help I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

I wouldn't wear a supe with a sports team on them, no. But the thing about the Raptors is that they are a tribute to a team without looking like it. They don't have all of the typical over-the-top shit going on. First time that I saw them I had no idea that they were for a sports team because it's not that obvious.

Olskie, see Dave's comment above...nuff said! It's all in the details mate, and subtle too, which makes the Raptors a biggie here....plus being a TO boy, it's a bonus to represent at the same time, even if the team has been shit for some time...
Pugs, I'll PM ya soon re info....and don't tell me you've nothing with logos on em, team sports or otherwise LOL....every fcuking thing we have is logo/brand based...it's the subtlety of it....personally I don't mind em, but very minimalistic if I must have one on an item I really like....I'd sooner wear logos than words all over...

First of all, what's wrong with sounding like me???
Secondly, the Raptors are cool. I'm a fucking Dutchy. We don't get NBA on our tv. So I don't care if they are Raptors themed or not.
They just look cool.
An American flag is a totally different thing. Now go stand in the corner and behave!

The term 'beaters', a description for nice trainers you have allowed to become battered and bruised, worn in the rain etc?
whenever I read that term I am picturing a white string vest! :/

My mum was born in Moston, as we're my uncle's. She has been a life long fan, took her to OT for her 70th birthday, Derby day, that Rooney overhead...

I wasn't even stirring the pot Rob simmer down buddy. I think that you read a little too deep into my post. Just like you think Blunts are overhyped, guess I feel the same about Raptors. Like I said before... To each their own. And by the way, you're not missing anything by not getting the NBA on your television. Just a bunch of overpaid guys that dunk the ball way too much lucky you for not getting it.
