Really nice Tif. I don't think that you will find any information about the production date. I'd say middle to end of 80s. Spitey has a pair from the beginning of the 80s where the shell is different to yours (to lame to look for the pics 
)

I find they fit true to size D, maybe get away with half size down but def wouldn't be looking at 9's mate

Amazing Tif! Saw a lot of Frenchies from a seller last week or so, could be the same source. And as Fritze said, the glue is part of the charm. Leave it on!

Excellent, exceeeeeeeellent pick up Tiff and yeah they do look similar to Fritze's. I'd maybe question the laces on your yours but leave the glue alone mate as Bonovox says it adds charm.
