Hi,

I found this site yesterday and I think all my prayers have been answered. I've always loved SS and Adidas in general (never really been a N*ke fan, they just don't have it) but I've always worn SS until they literally fell off my feet when I would purchase another pair. Then last year I happened to buy a pair of Superstar Chrome UK 10.5 (always a damn hard size to find) I and couldn't believe what a work of art they were so I didn't wear them, apart from the first dance on my wedding day but that's another story!

So on the honeymoon I went to the Originals Shop in NYC and purchased a pair of Superstar skate, the ones in Grey/Black/Yellow and again (I know all the collectors out there know what I mean) I look at them and think: I can't wear these, they have that "new trainer" smell - how intoxicating is that. Serioulsy the wife now wants to display them on the wall! I also bought the 35th Aniversary book and what a damn fine read it is as well.

Anyway, maybe now I'll some kind soul will answer all those questions that have been nagging me for ages, the main one being whose idea at Adidas was it to start with the Originals thing? Was it just someone in the marketing dept who thought it would be a short lived marketing ploy and did they realise it would be as sucessful?

Also, I always wanted a pair of SS Zoom with the colour code known as Alabaster and Deep Red - anyone have these in their collection? I think they were released around 2003/2004 but in the US only.

Glad you like the handle, it's a very old football nickname, very handy for using as website login name. I'll take a look at mrshoeshotta's site, but I have to admit I'm very fussy with what SS I buy - I guess my collection will be small but totally to my tastes! Even on the SS 35th collection I would only purchase the Neighbourhood and Undefeated ones - if I could find/afford them!!

I have only found out about the SS Casino editions, is there a mailing list you can get on at Adidas so that they can let us freaks know when a new edition is about to be released?

Any idea who would answer my previous questions?

The best place to find out about new drops is here to be honest, unless you have some contact high up at adidas, in which case I hope you'd hang about to hook us up.

As for the adidas originals thing, I'd guess that Adidas saw the rep that it's vintage gear was getting, and how sought after 2nd and deadstock items were and decided to start releasing it again, which has grown into the originals collection we know and love today

Thanks olstar, I thought as much. I sell/buy classic cars from time to time and the same applies there!!

What about Phat Kicks on the bay? I notice he has some nice Superstar Casino on there, are they fake? You guys got me paranoid now.

Where on earth would I find a pair of SS Zoom/ZM in Alabaster/Deep Red, UK 10.5 those were one of my favourite pairs, no luck on the bay so far.
