Because "real" DJ's don’t use CD's?
And Serato IS vinyl.
And why bother burning anything then if you can play from your itunes with serato?
Why bother even paying the artist at all when you can get it from the net for free?

Serato is an extremely good compromise between paying £700 excess baggage every show plus having to employ people to carry all the boxes, and not having the tune you need.
There is no way anyone can tell the difference in sound on any club system. What ever they say.
I don't mean to be shitty, but this is a subject i deal with all the time...
You will not find a bigger vinyl fan than me, or a bigger "old school" fan either.
12 years of hip-hop tour managing has taught me that sometimes the old ways can be improved. This is without mentioning all the features of Serato, and the fact that the original records live longer...

I agree mate.

I've always found it hard to use CD decks and basically I dont want to. I need to have vinyl. That's why serato and final scratch seem to be a perfect compromise between analogue and digital.

It seems the type of music you play effects you views on this - in my experience hiphop DJs will go for serato over CDs any day. I guess the end result is what's important.........

yes of course. i didn't really mean to pick on serato. what i really meant was traktor, ableton live, mixmeister etc. etc.

I agree with you Mr Shoeshotta. I have struggled with CD decks and much prefer the feel of Vinyl, possibly as i have used it for so many years but saying that i know that they have vastly improved Cd decks to try to give the feel of controlling the record but i have yet to try any of these products. I have a CDJ 500 which is great for some effect type things such as looping etc but i struggle to bring a mix in perfectly each time.

There are many aspects to DJ ing and many different styles that suit a particular stlye or genre of music so different DJ's will choose different types of Equipment etc to suit their needs. There is no right and wrong just what ever floats yer boat. I will always be a Vinyl Junkie and i find that the feel and look and sound quality of Vinyl to be far superior to that of CD's but thats just me and probably cos im old!
