Went down to Montpellier in the South of France weekend before last, New York booked up for August and then Singapore for most of December. Probably some trips down to Lyme Regis dotted in between too!
First time in the past coupld of years that I haven't made my yearly trip to China, China and Japan is definately on the cards again next year though.

was considering having a holiday in london then tokyo in sep/oct but have scrapped that idea since I have close friends weddings around the same time.
so looks like the most I'll be doing this year is a long weekend in melbourne and maybe a week in sydney

It'll be my first visit, my gf is Singaporean but her mum works in china so usually we head back there but. Should be heading over to Malaysia during the trip too. Do you know if you need a visa to cross over on a uk passport?

My wifey is from Singapore too. Been over a few times. We made a trip over to Malaysia when we're there last and I don't recall needing a visa.
Think we signed something about the purpose of our visit, a stamp in the passport and we were on our way. (Will check with my other half)
They're more strict about things on your way back into Singapore than on the way out.

Aren't visa's usually for extended stays i.e. 4-6 months, or if you're planning to work for a bit elsewhere?
Me n wifey n kids off to Cali next month for god knows what!

You don't need a visa in advance for Malaysia on a uk pasport, I seem to recall you get a three month stamp on arrival, then the same I think if you visit Sabah or Sarawak, been a couple of years mind you.
