Recently bought a pair of Yoda's for £100 inc postage on eBay. Was totally made up to get a pair at that price, brand new, unopened in the action figure style packaging and couldn't wait to receive them.

I hadn't decided what I was going to do with them but I figured I was probably going to leave them packaged initially as I'd got them for a good price a figured they might be worth a fair bit more. Only other pair for sale in my size are up for £350 on eBay at the moment.

I collected them from the Post Office last week and they were wrapped up in a couple of layers of large bubble, bubble wrap. Once unwrapped I could see they packaging had all cracked and shattered in the post.

I messaged the seller and he suggested I put a claim in with Royal Mail. I said that wasn't good enough and that it was his negligence for not putting them in a sturdy box rather than bubble wrapping them in a plastic bag. So then he calls my bluff and says fine return them for a refund...

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I know many of you are just gonna tell me to wear them and be grateful I got them for a good price. However I am really annoyed that potentially, if I did just buy them to display that he has now ruined the future value of them by carelessly trashing the packaging.

I don't really know what the solution is beyond "stop moaning about it" but I can't help feeling really annoyed by the whole thing.

Ok ok ok Pete.  I'll read and leave a reply.

Keep the shoes.  Wear the shoes.  Keep the package.   Hide the package.... at least out of daily viewing.  You'll get over feeling annoyed....at some point.  If the cardboard backing is still in good shape, ehh, you're good to go.  The elation of wearing a truly top notch Supe will diminish the destruction of the package cuz seriously, that is one dope-ass fresh model of Superstar.  The one last model that I'd truly love to add to my collection.  So my post is severely tainted with jealousy.

I would be annoyed as well but would definitely keep them to wear because how many chances are you going to have to get a pair of yodas for that price. The first time you wear them the annoyed feeling will most likely drift away or at least lessen.

I'm with Lex and Ol, keep them and wear them.
Plus we don't much like resellers around here so the money you paid them was good and if you ever decide to part them you should not try to make profit.
I've done it once and got burned here (albeit it was N1kes).

Yoda's are very very nice and you should be happy not living in Finland were it's so wet and/or slushy half of the year that wearing anything even remotely white is just madness

you got em for a really good price, damaged packaging is a bit anoying, but you bought them to wear didnt you? so, wear em and enjoy them mate. could argue that you got them for what you would pay for a "worn a couple times no origional box" price anyway.
i do love a bit of packaging, but when it comes to limited sneaks given the choice between not having them or having them in a tatty box id take the 2nd option

The cardboard backing is fine. It's just the plastic.

I was actually thinking I might hold onto them and keep them brand new until episode 7 is released. Is that weird?

you can always try and pick up a cheap pair of one of the other star wars adidas releases and use the plastic from that?

Are they all the same size? Plus are there any cheap ones?!?!

I was thinking about getting the Darth Vader ones to sit alongside the Yoda's.

The only other ones I really like are the Stormtrooper Superskate Mids... I have a pit of the stormtrooper superstars somewhere but I wore them loads when I got them before I started collecting and I think they're knackered. They also came in a box not the plastic. Still got the free pin badge somewhere as well.

Apparently, they are prone to cracking. stick it together and get a piece of A2 Mylar and a hairdryer and make it all over again using the broken one underneath. Or wear them and nobody will care about the packaging as their not deadstock anymore anyway. That is way too nice not to wear.

oh yeah,, forgot about this option... commission benji to re package them for you, it will look better than the origional, quarentee that mate.
and as far as saving them for the new film, dont sound weird at all mate.

I gave my yoda packaging to my, at the time, 3 y/o daughter. She "made" it into a computer

The selling price for Yodas is around £100-150, so keeping them for years just to make £50 at best is really not worth the hazzle, it's not like you're going to make a fortune anyway. If you're not going to wear them return them to the seller, otherwise stick 'em on your feet

Also, most Star Wars fans are not too fuzzed about them anyway, as they're not official SW merchandise

Check first with a seller that they'll package them properly.
Ignore "available" prices, look at "sold" prices.
Only the Yoda's and Vader's had the blister pack.
Trainers are for wearing, not displaying, unless you're also wearing them!
It's a shit but then again, so's life.
To be honest, those trainers are both a total pain in the arse.
Many's the time I've put them in precarious positions hoping the packaging would get fucked so I could fuck the blister pack off!

tbh i havent worn my droid top ten lows or wampa campus 80s, they just hang on my wall in their blister packs, more as art than trainers!
