Hi all.
Thought I would introduce myself since it's 4:30am and can't sleep.
I'm Pete, I'm 31 from Basildon, Essex, UK and I'm starting to develop a serious superstar addiction! I say starting, in reality I've been wearing supes since I was maybe 16/17. My first pair were a simple Superstar 1, classic white with black stripes. I remember at the time being a bit naive and ordering what I thought would be a UK 12 from the USA which actually turned out to be like a 13 or a 13.5. Now given the only reason I wear bigger shoes is cause I have wide feet these things were like clown shoes on me! I now tend to go for a UK 11.5 or 12. However I recently bought a pair on eBay that are "made in China" (not sure if they are fake) and a size UK11.5 and they are tight as hell so I think I'm gonna start trying the 12s from now on to be safe.
So recently I made the mistake of adding "adidas superstar" as a saved search in my eBay app on my iPhone. I now find myself checking the search for new listings at least a few times a day looking for something different or a bargain. Recently picked up a black pair and a grey pair of the canvas superstar II IS with the colour card inserts. Bought both from the same seller at £40 a pair but realised afterwards that their was only one colour card between the two pairs. Just laced the black ones up with the black laces and stuck some old red stripes in from a pair of adicolor's I bought yonks ago. Also added a pair of 3 stripe silver lace jewels that I picked up last month as well. They look pretty decent! Anyhow I am starting to spend far too much on supes now!
As I write this I am getting married in 6 weeks and as a fun surprise I've been frantically buying superstars as cheap as possible on eBay for the wedding party. White/White for the bridesmaids and White/Navy for the groomsmen. Our wedding colour is a kind of Cadbury purple so I've got a load of purple laces and I've added the same square diamanté buckles from our wedding stationary as a lace jewel on the girls pairs as well. I'm still trying to work out what exactly I'm gonna do for my fiancée though. I've got a couple of options for her. I recently found a pair with purple stripes and some leopard print accents on the heel and lining inside or I've got a pair of white IS and I might make a custom colour card of some description (glittery maybe). I looked into having stripes made of silver but it was going to cost over £500 for the pair of us including the engravings I wanted which I couldn't justify.
Anyhow I hope that's a decent introduction and when I work out how I'll post some pics of what I've got.
