I know this could have gone in Intl help thread but wanted to create a new one to get this out there to as many peeps as possible.
Here's the link
A few weeks back I ordered a t shirt from Upper Playground and it duly arrived via Fed-Ex. However about 10 days later I received a letter from FE stating I had to pay £16 in customs charges! (Unlike UK Royal Mail, Fed-Ex deliver the goods then sting you afterwards!) but I did some looking around and found Karl Craig-West's site.
In a nut shell you pay the VAT, that can't be avoided, but you give two fingers to the "admin" charge. This is a blatant con. Fed-Ex provided with the letter a 6 page leaflet on why you should pay customs charges but no where does it say why they have added on the "admin" charge. It is very cleverly worded to frighten you into paying the whole lot.
I paid the VAT but wrote them a short email stating why I wouldn't be paying the admin charge as I did not enter into a contract with Fed-Ex.
That was four weeks ago, heard nothing since.
