in NYC, hit up a handful of nice kick shops Wappa - and welcome back! DQM, Alife (if their renos are done), Flightclub (if anything to stare at the wall of shoes). Also some nice areas ie SoHo, Times Square for the tourist thing....some NY heads in here so I'm sure they'll give you the local feed...

Yeah figured there'd be a few that can help.
Definitely wanna visit a few trainer stores, haven't bought a pair in months! Started renting a house with my girlfriend so bills etc come first.

I'm here in New York and I go to LA every year, as well.(going in early April) Lemmie get a list together for you when I have time, later. When are you coming?
Also, Sweet Kicks was just here in New York (his 2nd trip) so he may be able to provide you with some ideas of what he enjoyed from the "tourist" perspective.

That's a lovely time to visit both places. I'll put something together and send it to you. PM me your email, if you can. It will be easier for me to put links in there.

If you're going to Manhattan, then spend a day down the south end of the island: Chelsea, the Village, Battery Park, whole area is just gorgeous. Great pubs, restaurants, shops. Get off the beaten track and you'll find loads of cool places to eat and drink. Plus, Union and Yellow Rat Bastard are two top stores to go to.
Mind you, that all said, I haven't been since about '03 or '04 so my shit may be outta date.
Bottom line though, you can't not have a great time. Plus, if going in September, pack light...it will probably be fucking roastin!

if you do make that drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco, let me know. i'm along that route and could meet somewhere. that drive along Highway 1 is an all day affair, but well worth it. you'll see the most beautiful parts of California that's for sure.

Plenty of stores to hit up in NYC man:
FLIGHT CLUB NY, Atmos, DQM, Alife, adidas OG Store, Bape, Stussy to name a few.
There a loads of cool little stores in the Chelsea/Noho/Soho areas, so like Deano said take a day and lose yourself around there.
Spend a day in Central Park, loads going on and maybe even a gig by
That Guitar Man.
We spent ages just wandering around really, you will be absolutely knackered especially being your first time as you'll probably be wanting to see the main sites.
Tip - take comfy shoes

Huge thanks for all these tips guys!
Will be looking up some of these stores when I get some spare time soon and gradually working out what we wanna do.
Would love to make the drive and meetup olskool, but we don't drive sadly.
