the main thing i look at are the laces
the fake ib's tend to come with the weaved laces but they are much too yellow compared with the genuine ones
i also look at the way the laces are packed, the fakes tend to be loose and floppy where as the genuine ones are wrapped up nicely, folded 3 times, not in half! and packed neatly & tightly
i also ask for a picture of the label on the box, there are certain things that you can check on that
as well as the usual eBay! seller checks etc.
as for the shoe itself i don't honestly think there is much you can spot?

From what I've seen the fakes are a lot darker, almost black and the leather is quite shiny.
Other than that, it's what the man above said.

I've seen a few on ebay with dodgy looking stripes and an overly large trefoil on the heel tab so check these bits too
Wishing it was like the old days again

I plunder on blindly, relying on pure faith to get me through....oh and the helpful folks here.
Trusted a Scouser this morning, that's a first for me.....
Sorry Ross mate, I need to stop this. Just got back from footy though and there is a Scouse lad there who holds up five fingers to me every two minutes during the game, something to do with European Cup triumphs.....

Also, the lace tag is either too big, doesnt have black stripes or looks plasticky.

I bought a pair IBs from eBay UK. Upon casual inspection, they didn't look perfect. After a few emails to the seller, a refund was forthcoming. From photos, it can be quite difficult to distinguish fakes. But in the flesh, they looked poooor.
