No doubt this thread has been done before, before my time, so being a new boy here i'm just wondering what everyone is listening to..

Me i've been into rap music for as long as i can remember, back in the day i was checking for Run DMC, Cool J, Kool G Rap, UTFO, Tribe, PE etc and today I have moved onto People under the Stairs, The Game, Pumpkin Head, EMC, Little Brother, Masta Ace and again I could go on and on...on top of this though i do love UK Hip Hop, I feel in recent years it really has stepped up its game and there are some fantastically talented artists out there that are really hitting the mark and giving America, in many cases, a run for their money, but i won't bore you with another list!!!

But just to show i'm not completely blinkered i'm also feeling Drum & Bass, i love those rolling beats, liking the more liquid melodic selection than the hardcore business...so that's me, maybe a bit limited but at 36 now I know what I like!

True say we do already have a "Today I'm listening to" thread but people tend to just post literally just that, what they're listening to at that time, it's not often used to discus music, which surprises me in all honesty. I thought being a site populated by a lot of Hip Hop heads music would be a big topic. I love music dearly, it's always been a massive part of my life and I'm glad I can appreciate such a wide variety. I love my Hip Hop like life itself, back in the day it was all about the usual suspects for me too, RUNDMC, Cool J, Curtis Blow etc etc but my all-time favourites are the Ultramagnetic MC's. Untouchable to this day when it comes to abstract patterns and rhyming off-beat. Sure, other rappers have a much better flow or are much better at telling a story or using words but Ultra's were so just so quirky and ahead of their time. True pioneers.

I'll pretty much listen to anything that's good although I just can't get down to a lot of this weepy indie nonsense or some of the cheesier R&B shiz. A quick scan through my iPod comes up with Hip Hop, Reggae, Ska, D&B, Dirty House, Electro, Blues, Rock even some Metal and a bit of Punk! No Elvis.

I used to belong to a forum that had a thread titled, "Post your iPod top 25"

Since iPod has a default playgroup of your 25 most listened to it turned out to be kinda interesting easy to post up... and sometimes disturbing.

Mine was made up of 24 songs I would expect... then creeping in near the bottom was Elton John's "Tiny Dancer". I sat there thinking, "where the hell did that Gay ass song come from?".. Then I thought, "yeah, I do like that song...."

That's where I've heard it recently! Watched the film last week, been bugging me since I read King's first post. And it's been in my head ever since...

This Ipod business is bloody addictive.. got one for Christmas and thought I'd try and fill it up, put close on 150 albums on there now and only used 13gb of 120. Memory on my PC is nearly maxed out now!

Got a bit of UK hip hop on there from Ty and Skinnyman.. nice.
