Im getting semi close to being done with college and Ive always had the idea of moving over to your side of the pond for a year or so to take in some non-American culture (Im 24 and have never been outta the country. sad, i know). Does anybody have any idea of the best spot to settle in for a few years that has plenty to see and do? Or somewhere thats close to a few happening spots? I dont mind living in the city or somewhere within a short drive to the city. It probably wont be a few years til I cn make it over there but I'd like to start forming some idea of where I might stay, any help is appreciated!

All depends what you're into really. London, Brighton or Manchester would be the best for all out city-life but there's some fantastic living to be had in some of the quieter, more scenic parts of the country like The Lake District, The Peak District, Devon & Cornwall and some of the coastal regions. Don't forget about Scotland, Wales and Ireland too!
My advice would be to travel light, don't settle and take in as many different parts of the country as possible and whilst you're at it check out the rest of Europe too. I think you'd be surprised just how similar England is to America culturally in some respects, for something totally different you should try some of the other European countries

I would try to live in a few different cities. Definitely London and Paris if you can make them work financially, plus maybe Barcelona as your last stop before moving back so you can get a sweet tan.

If your funds allow, London would be my recommendation. It's one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
They current exchange rate should help

What Shellshock said, but living near /in London can be expensive however don't be afraid of the North of England, Liverpool/Manchester/Newcastle, etc are all decent places to live with tons to do and the local ladies will think you a bit exotic so you can get laid plenty time.

And the drinks are cheaper oop North!
Shit forgot about the Lake District (I was born there and got married there, one of the nicest places on earth - WHEN IT DOESN'T RAIN! 360 days out of 365
