These people weren't queueing for a product just the fact a new shop was opening. Some dicks came from turkey and the US just to sit outside the shop for days to get in when it opened. Sometimes i just dont like the world we live in.

Who has THAT much time or desire on their hands that they can just kite off across the world to the opening of an Apple store like that?
Man, I bet the grandkids will LOVE that story:
"Did I ever tell you kids about the time I flew for 10 hours to England and waited in line for 3 days for my new MacBook Pro?"
"Really? What's England like?"
"I have no idea, I just got back on the plane and flew back home."
Douche.

Never buy RAM from Apple.
I've always only bought refurbs and upped the RAM myself.
Never had a major problem with them.

Either.
Not sure about hard drives to be honest.
A quick check on Youtube will answer that but I'd have thought so.
I'd make a Hackintosh if you're that happy building.
Just make sure all the pieces have actually been in a Mac at some point and you'll be good to go.
Top spec Mac Pro for £2,000. Result!

You can change HDD's as well. When I got my latest MacBook Pro I changed memory to 4GB and changed original HDD to 500GB Momentus XT (that's the one with a small partition of SSD on it). I've been very happy with it ever since. That HDD is awesome and even though it spins faster than your average laptop hdd (5.4k ->7.2k) it still consumes less battery as it uses that SSD for almost everything so it doesn't have to spin all the time like standard disks.
But I guess this is too much nerd talk for now.

Blimey. You might have to talk me through that one day.
Needless to say it voids the warranty if you open the case ?

Only what comes to HDD warranty, but then again you should have full warranty on that one separately.

Eh ? Over here you don't get the choice.
Applecare is all!
Open the case and you forfeit!

That might be the case, but I meant that applecare is probably still valid but not for the HDD that you have bought from somewhere else. That however is covered with HDD manufacturers warranty.
But there might be some regional differences.

Yeah, that was bizarre, all those divs in that shop in Covent Garden.
I don't own a single apple product, strictly dell held together with gaffer tape . . . hoping to make up for it next week when they mention adidas . . .

I don't wear Crocs, and I don't wear sandals/The pump don't work 'cause the vandals took the handles . . .

hmmmm this is good info guys thanks heaps!
the one thing that has always put me off apple is their rediculous prices on hardware, if its about as easy as a PC replacing parts then I'm sold!
in other news... I've been spending a bit of time walking around Sydney taking snaps so I can put some prints up on my walls... and I spotted this fella yesterday rocking the starwars varsity and some new beckham shoes
must say the varsity is no where near as "loud" in person as it looked online... dudes manbag is "louder" lol
