I grew up poor, so as kid i always had naff kicks and used to get the piss taken out of me. I always had niks (not nikes), ascot, head, and mercury. I used to wear em untill my feel poked out the ends, only then was i allowed another pair!!
The 1st pair i ever got really excited about was a pair of nike cortez's that i was bought as a present in my teens (around 14ish i think...) i used to wear em all the time!
I think growing up with shite kicks is the root cause of my addiction to sick sneaks now
I DUG OUT MY OLD TW'S AND WASHED THEM. THEY LOOK GOOD FOR 19 YEARS OLD. SIZE 6UK THROUGH. DON'T THINK I'LL BE WEARING THEM AGAIN LOL. ALSO MY MAX 90'S, NEW 180'S. AND SOME BRITISH KNIGHTS.
Tretorns
Adidas Spirits
SSmiths (oh how I wish I still had these og ones)
But nothing rocked better than Converse low All Stars...cheap, variety of colors, etc...gotta say probably the culprit in flattening out my feet though
It was unbranded "4 stripes" for me as a snot-nose. First pair of branded trainers I had were some weak Gola nonsense. Then when I was about 11 my granny got me a pair of Adidas Kick from the little Asian shoe shop at the bottom of the street. Until I bust me cherry, that was by far the best day of my life! I had Kicks and Samba for a while then got a pair of Puma Kings, kinda like a football boot style trainer with a fold over tongue. Dope! Things went a bit pear shaped after that with Hi-Tec Silver Shadows and Nationals. Oh Lord!
I've had them all since then. Too many Nikes to mention, Troops, they were the business back in the day, went all the way down to 4 star General for them! Patrick Ewings, Travel Fox, Avia during my Public Enemy phase, Reeboks, New Balance, Lotto (?!) Converse and a few skate brands along the way too. Wish I still had 'em all! I've always wanted to open a trainer museum, to document the history of the athletic shoe.
