Alright I'll dig. I'm from the US, and I see alot of you guys are from the UK which is tight because, if everything works out, I'll be visiting Bristol sometime.
Adidas for me (yeah I realize it's just a brand) is sorta like capturing an era. I don't find the same in Nike's or Reeboks or Puma's. Way way back in the day when I was a kid my cousins were breakdancing and was getting into the general hip hop culture, even had a few blackbooks for me to look through.
Stuff was tight, and adidas was right the supporting bboys and the general hip hop culture. Not only did they do that, but they celebrated numerous other cultures (I just copped these Philippine Edition Gazelles). Other brands just didn't do that, they made bank elsewhere. And I don't know, that's just pretty slick to me. Everyone can find something they like in a pair of Gazelles, Campus's, ZX's, Stan Smiths, Half-Shells, and of course, them shelltops.
Currently I'm all about collecting as many legit adicolors as I can.. representing curiosity and creativity is the best thing anyone can give.
(Now my own humanitarian cue: if only adidas' shops weren't all in the asias, they'd be perfect.. but I suppose somethings' gotta come from somewhere..)
