I'm thinking that maybe certain members were poorly brought up, with lazy parents who couldn't be bothered to teach them the old 'loop and swoop' and instead put them in velcro.

Init, you have to "throw dem bows" on certain shoes, untied just doesn't look right on running/jogging shoes.
