Need help finding a special superstar style - Corn_Fed - 04-09-12
I am looking for an adidas superstar with (preferrably a suede upper) that has smoother insoles like those in the adidas samba classics for example. This is the exact shoe I am trying to replace
http://www.sendegiral.com/ADIDAS-urun-Kodu-20984_22376.html
Its a turkish website. I assume they are out of production. They are art no 010197.
I just bought a pair of black superstar 2 from Dr. Jays and I noticed the insole was rougher and probably the stock insole.
What I am hoping is that some member here will have a pair of superstars with the type of smoother insole found in the sambas and would be able to provide me a picture or even better a sku #, so that I can order them online.
I hope I have come to the right place.

Please introduce yourself first in a separate thread.

i dont understand the whole rough insole thing?!?
they look like a fairly standard footlocker style release mate. if your just after a black on black suede superstar II then you could make them on the mi adidas website.

Yes I know but it would be pointless to go to miadidas and order something with the insole that I don't want. Adidas puts two different types of insoles in their superstars. Looking for the style of superstar with a more samba classic feel. Someone will know what I am talking about.

Post a pic of your old insoles as many of us do not own sambas.

Would it not just be easier to buy the kind of insole you want....remove the one you dont and replace....hey presto....You now have what you want...Or am I missing the point...

I've got a pair of Sambas from '92 and I don't know what you're talking about. Surely adidas doesn't just do an insole just for a specific shoe. That doesn't make sense.

I am pretty sure that would damage the shoe... Unless you have actually done this.

I will try. Although that probably won't help. I am getting help from a guy at pickyourshoes.com.
At this point I doubt I will ever get an answer as noboby seems to have a clue what I am talking about. I don't think I am completely crazy yet however.

Well okay I was referring to a 2012 pair I just tried on at famous footwear. I don't have any info on the insoles from 92.
At this point it is looking pretty hopeless. I may just have to take a risk and order a few different styles of superstar and send them back if they are not right.
The guy at pickyourshoes.com got two different pairs of sambas and two different pairs of superstars and said he couldn't tell the difference between any of the insoles. I guess meaning they are the same. I will talk with him tommorrow.
Also called miadidas and they told me (not suprisingly ) that you couldn't pick the insole.
Can't ever get through to adidas.com. Although i doubt they would be able to help me anyways.
Thanks all for the help. I am not done yet, but getting close.

These sambas have the insoles I am looking for..
Really poor quality pic, but all I could find for right now. You have to
zoom in.
These sambas have the type of insole I am NOT looking for (I assume)...
it appears to be the rougher type insole...

LOL no idea from those mate, can you rip out the old insoles? Adidas sometimes use specialist insoles from other companies. These companies often print their name on the underside of the insole.
For instance, some 80s have ortholite soles which are padded/ moulded possibly gel injected foam soles that have a silky fabric covering to them. These can be purchased on the internet.
Sorry cannot help any further as I am not a Samba man, don't know any either.

A man who wants to go long distance running in a suede basketball shoe designed in the 60s fitted out with the insoles of a football training shoe. By far, the weirdest, most bizarre and utterly confusing request I have ever, ever read.

Well thanks for all the replies.
All my obsessiveness seems to have paid off for the moment as I have found the exact style on Amazon. They only had one pair left and amazingly they were my size. Weird. They are also a different color but not too ugly for my taste.
Here is a pic and hopefully they arrive smooth insole fortified
