iPhone- unlocking? -
nikosg - 08-04-10
hey guys,
hoping to get my new iphone tomorrow ( not even sure if i can jailbreak the software yet mite have to wait a while)....
but basically its locked to a certain australian network which i want to unlock...
and that particular network charges 150$ to unlock which is a joke...
basically i just want to unlock it now as i dont really want to jailbreak straight away and void my warranty, but dont want to pay that much money if it is avoidable!
does anyone know if there is a way to unlock for free? with a software from computer or something?
any of ya;s jailbroken urs btw? how did u find it? recommend? recommend against it?
im looking at you ez
ur the expert

version 3.1.3 can only be unlocked by your network provider
as far as im aware no jailbreak is available yet for that model.

yeh thats what i thought, but i wanted to know if there was a way for just unlocking network rather than jailbreaking the phone if that makes sense

I think there's two different ways to unlock it and just bhara said there is no free way to unlock 3.1.3. But you haven't got that phone yet have you? If you don't have it yet then just make sure that you don't update it straight away. When you connect it to itunes it will ask you to update but just ignore it and go with unlocking. I'll post you some links if you haven't found them yet.
So go to iclarified.com and brows your self to tutorials. There you have plenty of good stuff... I would go with blacksn0w.

That fellow who did blackra1n has come up with new edition but he's still making some changes so you'll have to wait until it's out.
It might take days, weeks or what not so I'd go with blackra1n for now and not updating the phone. There is nothing that you need on that update anyways...

all the tutorials seem to say the phone needs to be jailbroken before you can unlock the network
maybe jailbreaking is the way to go... not sure yet cos of warranty.

I'm not sure but I think you can just do factory reset to your phone before you take it to the service and that will clear everything on it so that it looks legit.
That is if you have any problems with it.

I wouldn't risk it personally, a mate of mine did it and he had a whole heap of problems.

Hi,nikosg
There are several other ways to unlock a I Phone other than contacting the service provider and Jail breaking it,here I will suggest you another Permanent unlock method which is known as remote unlocking service. This remote unlocking service is one of the reliable and safest way to unlock a I Phone without voiding the warranty. If your willing to get the remote unlock service you can get it from the site
Unlock-Zone.com.You can avail the remote unlocking service by providing some basic information about your phone like the country and the network to which the phone is locked.By providing this information you can avail the service to unlock your Iphone to work with any other GSM network.
