Inappropriate wearage - sidekick - 14-07-09

Okay, so I'm a graphic designer and one half of a marketing company in Halifax. Being my own boss means I get to wear whatever I want to work, usually jeans, t-shirt and the superstars.

This morning I got a phone call at 8.45 asking if I could meet with a new client to discuss some branding work. I was already in the office and didn't have my black TLs, just the blue and yellow vulcs on that I picked up the other week.

The client was based in Manchester, so I drove over and waited in reception to meet him. When he came out, the first thing he noticed were my trainers and asked me what the hell I thought I was doing wearing Leeds United colours in his office!

I never even thought of it like that before - he wasn't bothered that I was wearing supes, just that I appeared to support Leeds! I got out of it by telling him they actually represented the Swedish flag as my mother is Swedish (a big fat lie) and the rest of the meeting went fine. But my Superstars could have cost me a client!

Anyone else worn Supes where they probably shouldn't have?

I'm in advertising in Toronto and the only time I run into trouble is when my Creative Director and I both wear our AZX Goodfoot on the same day.

I'm a photographer and designer, I am usually pretty casual and unshaven etc
infact the only time I ever dress up formal and shave is for weddings/christenings etc hahaha

none of my clients mind how I dress/look, and if I lost work because they didnt like how I looked then its no skin off my back

and the only time I've had problems with wearing supes is when a door bitch at a club thinks shes high and mighty and wont let me in because I am wearing sneakers

a week ago i went to a club, and i had to take off my black adidas track suit.. but supes were fine for the bodyguard.

Yeah I work for a design agency too so can wear what I want, which like yourself is tshirt, jeans and Supes!

Never had any bother with wearing them, it seems to be the amount of different ones I have that my work colleagues take the piss about. Apparently I have a shoe fetish. Doesn't help that I get any I buy delivered here to save the inevitable trip to the Royal Mail depot.

Haha yeah I know I deserve a massive beating for the Vulcs but I really like them. Although I started seeing a girl about a month ago and wore them and a pair of shorts around to a BBQ she was having. She dumped me the next day. So you may have a point.

Nope, I either get it when a new box turns up (even if it's a parcel that isn't Supes, they simply don't believe me), or if I wear a pair I've either not worn to work before, or haven't had on for ages, they think it's a they are a new pair. And the abuse begins again.

That's because we don't actually get to work on anything cool (we were lied to at school/college/uni) so we fill our working day finding something more interesting to look at than stock photos of office workers for boring-ass brochures. Usually stock photos of Superstars...

I get it from wife, son, and daughter, although, at least my daughter says it with excitement like this..."DAD! A box came for you today!! Another new pair?!!! Can I open it?!!! Huh, huh, huh?!!!"

At my old job, we had those "business casual Fridays" where we could dress down a bit and stray from the slacks, dress shoes, and dress shirt and I'd wear a different pair of Supes every Friday. My new job of two years now, no more "business casual Fridays". Totally bummed about that. Khakis or slacks and polo shirts everyday now and definitely no sneaks.

Used to wear supes to work everyday. My post i took in jan i rocked up in my supes n was told its black shoes only n new trainers. Since then i have been wearing a pair of pink ballet pumps. I aint getting no plain back nightingale dicks days lace ups.
