35th prices - Minky Starshine - 05-03-09

Haven't started a new thread in ages...so Ive been thinking about the prices of the 35th collection for awhile now..they don't seem to be fetching a great deal of money on the bay..as I've just posted..just got a pair of LQ's for £46..not the best looking edition,but are deadstock..and this is a general trend...I think we hold them in such high esteem that maybe we value them too highly(in money terms,not in desirability)..I think the real money comes with the consortiums(unions,dmops etc)..these are the REAL rare stuff..genuine ones rarely surface on e-bay..then every one wants them..but every thing else(35th wise..not your diva's/lux's/)seems fairly reasonable.Now,I've not got a long history in collecting..were they fetching greater prices in days gone by?..I have a pair of Paris(too small) and Buenos aires(too girlie)for sale and can't shift them..maybe it's only us guys and gals that wants them!!

RE: 35th prices - Dirty - 05-03-09

I think it has alot to do with the global economy. People are less willing to spend the dough on kicks now as compared to about a year ago. I also think thats why so many 35ths have been popping up lately, people are selling them to make ends meet maybe?

RE: 35th prices - mr.pure - 05-03-09

Did you get 'em from Robrim ?
I think he listed too many items of roughly the same size over too short a time span, i.e. he flooded the market.
Couple that with the global economic meltdown and you've definitely got a recipe for lower prices.
If you can afford to, pick up what you want/need now before we come out of this shit and prices escalate again.
The Quinones never were that popular to be honest but you did get a bargain, IMO.
I paid £75 for 'em on the day of release.

Sad

RE: 35th prices - Akers - 05-03-09

It is kinda weird, I've managed to pick up 3 pairs of 35ths for under £70, crazy. Fair enough two of the pairs we slightly used but it's still cheap.

RE: 35th prices - Lorrie - 05-03-09

It's true, Minky. £46 is a pretty good deal, and I don't think I paid much more for my New Yorks or my DMCs. I wonder if most everyone who wanted them has them or the loads of fakes scared people off or collectors have moved on or what. Tough to say, I guess.

The consortiums also seem to have come down in price. I think I paid CDN350 for my Dasslers and they were going for USD500 summer of 2007. Unions were about the same.

I would expect that out of any of the 35ths, it'll be the NBHDs and the FPs that hold their value. They aren't going to increase in this recession, but someday they will. Whether they'll increase more than inflation is doubtful, though.

As always, the market is what people are willing to pay. I know that when RHCP's were on flightclub they listed for USD225. I would pay more than that for a deadstock pair in my size.

RE: 35th prices - Minky Starshine - 05-03-09

No, didn't get them from robrim,but I know the guy your talking about(think he's ones were all size 9/9.5)..the guy I got them from also sold his dmops and unions(which I assume Pokey got)..but yeah..a few people there selling their collections off

RE: 35th prices - Akers - 05-03-09

The only problem with all these cheap 35ths going is that they are nearly all below a size 11, I could have had a few more pairs by now otherwise Sad

RE: 35th prices - Shellshock - 06-03-09

Good Thread Minky, I've often had similar thoughts. At the moment I don't own one single pair of 35ths (get the violins out) not because I don't like any of them but I'd always assumed they'd all be well out of my price range becasue of how highly regarded they all are. It's only very recently, as in the last few days, that I've actually noticed what other people (especially you with ya LQ's) are paying for them and that's made me realise that a lot of the 35th series that I really like are well within my budget. To say I'm pleasantly surprised in somewhat of an understatement! Obviously the consortium range will always be mega-money and rightly so, they are by far the greatest supes ever made in my opinion. I'd kill a man for his FPs, no sweat. Laughing

Although I do have to say, I think some of them are a bit lame and were they not part of the 35th series no one would even give them a 2nd glance.

*skips off whistling to search for a pair of Missys'*

RE: 35th prices - mr.pure - 06-03-09

Most of 'em were shit, IMO.
The Consortiums rocked, half of the music and expressions series rocked, two or three cities rocked, Adi owes me a pair of 35ths, that was about it !

Very Happy

RE: 35th prices - janvanderdam - 06-03-09

I think you have a point with the prices. I just got a pair of Underworlds in 11US for around $80.

RE: 35th prices - super sk8 - 06-03-09

But these aren´t DS condition mate. Wink

I´ve watched them too.

But nice pick up jan! Smile

It´s all about patience. Keep your eyes on the bay these days & maybe you make some nice bargains (with a lil help of your friends...).

RE: 35th prices - cracky - 06-03-09

I think mr.p's right about the market being flooded at the moment, which is obviously a good thing if they are your size, are cheap and you have the cash available to spend, the cheaper the better for me. I'm with zwer though, i would pay a good price for rhcp's in my size as they seem to hold value better than most of the others.

RE: 35th prices - pokey27 - 06-03-09

I agree with whats been said alot of collectors are selling up and flooding the market add on the recession and people watching there pockets and hey presto lower prices Smile It's like most things now property,cars etc its a buyers market not a sellers market.
I always thought if the pairs i wanted were out there now would be the time they'd appear and if they didn't then it was never gonna happen.
I think i've got all my consortiums cheap but then again i don't exactly know what you all paid???
1.adi dasslers = £200
2.tates = £150
3.undft = £200
3.footpatrols = £200
that good???
Minky u got a cracking bargain on the LQ's m8 thumbright

RE: 35th prices - mr.pure - 06-03-09

Pretty good prices but you do get the added bonus of having a small cock, I mean small feet.
So there's a lot less people interested in the ones that do come up.
I've had some great results on my Consortiums through being a persistent motherfucker and by taking chances with sellers other people just didn't trust.

RE: 35th prices - mr.pure - 06-03-09

They'll be back up in less than two years, no doubt about it.
