Did you know that if you pay via paypal and mark it as gift neither party gets charged
so if you do a deal and trust someone it could be a way to save money
just thought i would share the tip

...depends on how the item is shipped.. if you use Fed-ex you'll get charged duty..

I think he's talking about the actual payment and not being charged 4% for the privilege.
Nice one.
Top tip, if true ?!?

Its true but i couldnt figure out how to do it!!which means if where selling stuff to each other on here!!then we won't need to add extra to cover paypal fee's

Sounds like tip of the day to me!
I wonder how long it takes before all payments are marked as gifts and PayPal gets zero percentage - that would be sweet (even though it's never going to happen, I know)

pokey when you go to make normal payment
you click on gift instead of the default option its set to
have a fiddle next time you make payment and you should get the hang of it
been doing it for a bit and no problems to note
i hate paypal so thought i would bring joy from my misery lol

Cheers bhara, used this last night.
From what i could work out it's only possible if you send money, i couldn't find an option to do it if you are paying for something or sending money to a request. There was also a 1% charge which you can choose to pay yourself or pass on to the recipient.
Much better than the 4% they normally cream off.

yh you can only do this if your paying someone
no charge at all
dont know what your doing to make the 1% thing happen because i dont get that when i send money as gift

So let me get this straight:
If I'm sending money (i.e. if buying soups), of course I don't get charged for using PPal, BUT if I'm waiting for cash (i.e. if someone's buying from me), and they send payment marked as a gift, then I won't get dinged %4???
Please verify as I've a number of items to/from happening over the next few weeks!!!!
If this is the case - you da man Bhara!

Thats about it.
From what i could work out but i may have done it wrong (hence the 1%)
The other person has to initiate the transaction by using the 'send money', they then get the choice of 'personal' then the option to send it as a 'gift'.
If you request money from them or if its linked straight from a sale on ebay etc then i don't think there is a 'gift' option for them to use.
Hope that helps.
