I have a hypothetical question of sorts for everybody. Im not on either side of the fence mind you but I was wondering if anybody on here thinks they will ever reach a point where they say enough is enough and stop collecting Soops. I was looking at my collection the other day and after trimming my collection down from 50 down to about 36 (Im goin for quality over quantity now) I realized that Im pretty happy with what I have. The problem that I know with the help of ebay that those hard to find elusive pairs will pop up eventually and I will have to snatch them up and the collection will grow once more. I know more people than not see our type of collections as kinda nuts but I just tell them im no different than a person that collects sports card or sports memorabillia, we are just able to show off our collections in the real world everyday! Thats logic works for Me, Im just worried that one day ill wake up under a pile of 200 soops and wonder how the fck I got there! Sorry if this seems disorganized or doesnt make sense, (im not good at putting thoughts down into words) I just wanted to see what some other like minded people might have to say!

Yeah, I've thought about that too. My want list was down to two soops, one of which is now on its way to me and the other Farmer located for me and I'm waiting for the price to come down to realistic levels. Theoretically, with both of those I could be done.
but now the SS80's are coming out...
a small part of me thinks i should just give them a miss and be happy with what i have.

I know what you mean. Ive had those thoughts too... I have 20 pairs of soops, a very small collection compared to others, and i wander will i ever stop buying pairs. Will i ever reach an equilibrium so to speak...
I couldnt imagine selling any of my pairs on, but i do wonder if one day il just stop buying them (because i decide to, not because ive ran out of £). A small part of me thinks i should just allow it and stop buying pairs. But then il see a pair i really like, and the cycle begins again...

I'm still getting rid of a few pairs cos I ended up looking at loads of them and thinking, "I'll probably never wear them, not when there's that pair over there to wear !".
Fuck it, you prune, you buy some more, you prune again, you buy some more.
Slowly slowly, sure, I'll end up with hundreds of 'em, all fucking quality !
*Edit. Should've said Ended !

yeh there is definatly a limit for me, once that limit is reached and i see more i want, some have to go before i can buy more, anyway i have my favourites and some kicks hardly see the light of day so at the point when they never get worn ,well its pointless hanging onto them imo, plus, they take up lots of space and for me personally space in my house is at a premium

Another gr8 thread!!
I'm sure i have a limit but i'm not sure what it is as before i joined this site i had collected everything adidas not just soops but unfortunately had to sell off loads of it then ofcourse i joined ere and set about getting it back.
I'm probo hoovering around the 75ish mark superstar wise and apart from the vin80s i'm kinda left with only whats on my wishlist still although pairs pop up on ebay in differing colours which i think well i havn't got a pair with such and such a colour so i buy them.My wishlist i think consists of erm..(counts) i think 7pairs now which i maybe never complete, but gotta hope to
.
I think i have probably 25+ (mosly 35ths) that aint even detagged yet some because i still havn't got the balls to detag em and some because im still unsure whether ill ever wear them and also because i work so much i dont really feel detagging a pair of FP'S or DASSLERS to walk the dog is doing them justice and rather wait till i'm going somewhere worth detagging them for plus they cost alot £££ and hardwork went into getting them and paying for them.
Basically i think the same as pure for me ill just keep buying and hopefully reach a point where its only new releases ill be chasin.
But unfortunately i am kidda driven (just in my nature) to want the BEST collection in the world
ADDICTIVE PERSONALITIES ROCK  even if i wanted to stop i couldnt
p.s Nows probably isn't the time to mention 40th anniversary i guess

Great response guys! I too reached that point where I got rid of stuff I knew Id never wear and made a rule saying I will only buy a pair if I know for sure that ill hit the streets in em. As it stands now every pair I have gets worn regularly and Im really pleased with what I have. Im really into stuff that was released before I started collecting (ex. OG Clrs, Graffiti Clrs, any 90's-early 2000's Soops ect.) and the fact that these pop up on the bay from time to time and I feel like I have to grab them or I wont see em ever again kinda makes me scared that ill never be able to stop! Im glad though that im not the only one who thinks about stuff like that!

I think they'll be a day some time in the future where I wonder why the hell I started buying 'em, but I'm nowhere near the point where I'd sell em off. As it is I'm reasonably happy with what I've got, and I don't buy anything just cos it's got a shell (was the reason for a coupla pairs I've got), but I think that I'll still be buying them for a long time, as they're not going to stop releasing them anytime soon, so there'll almost always be a new pair to tempt me.

I don't think there is ever going to be a time when I completely stop collecting Soops. I may slow down ( depending on finances as well )and only buy the ones I REALLY just HAVE to have. Wearing them just brings me so much joy
It's a really great feeling to wear clean looking Soops that I like or that totally match my outfit/shirt. Most people that collect sports memorabillia, toys, or whatever really don't have a way to "show off" what they collect since it is stored at their house, but to be able to actually WEAR what you love and collect is just plain AWESOME!!!! And as Pokey said....Addictive personalities rock!!!
If it's something that brings you happiness who cares if other people think you're weird....you are the one who is happy and looking fly with a fresh pair of Shelltoes!!!!!!!!

As long as they keep releasing fresh and interesting kicks i'll be fu#*ed!
I buy clothes to match my sneaks now and it used to be the other way around.
I buy up laces and lace jewels I think I may need when I used to just get them for pairs I just bought.
Let's face it, one day i'll look back and say.........

My problem is that, barring a couple of pairs, all the ones i've bought I still like, so I don't wanna get rid of any of them. And they keep making more nice ones that I wanna buy, which is why I have about 130+ pairs now. I think i'll keep going until they stop making them! And at least I have a pair to match almost anything I ever choose to wear. I think, when it starts taking me more than about 20 mins to decide what pair to wear, thats when i'll start slowing down!

^^^ There is nothing wrong with that Craig, to each his own

Aye, nothing wrong at all - just seeing that got me on ebay at bmx's and found a 2008 re-release of my old mag burner, vintage now apparently... spose the 80's are as far back now as the 60s were then...
There's definitely something about addictive types - whatever it be - not just adidas etc... I seem to have inadvertantly started collecting radio controlled cars (using my son as an excuse) - got Kitt, General Lee, Back to the Future Delorean and an A-team van on the way.... can't buy one of anything...
