Right, as I have mentioned on a previous thread, my other hates me calling sports shoes, sneakers, she reckons they are trainers as I am not American.
What do you call them?

I usually just call them "shoes." Whomever I'm talking to knows what style of shoe I am talking about, no need to call them sneakers or trainers. This doesn't seem that important to me though... lol

sneaks, kicks, soops, or shoes. mostly i refer to my kicks as what they are. so vins are vins. ss1 or 2 are soops. underworlds are underworlds. upper playgrounds are barbeques, pro models are pro mods. etc.
often preceded by the adjective 'swet' - a woman I work with doesn't say things are sweet, they're swet. so it's 'oh my god, those bordeaux vins are fkn swet.'

Exac-TLY!
I'm American as apple pie.... I've never heard ANY American call them "Sneakers"... sounds like something my mother might've but didn't say.
They're "Shoes"... or *maybe* "Kicks", depending on the crowd.
Freakin Limeys... always trying to run us down into the "sneaker" crowd.

I call them several different things, sneakers, trainers, kicks... I've only started calling them trainers in the last coupla years, but growing up it was always sneakers, and I'm definitely not american

Kicks, sneaks or supes for me as well.
I know i'm english, but it's just a habit I fell into. Besides, they're not training shoes so I don't think trainers is all that accurate (but then again, I guess sneakers or licks aren't either)

They ain't called trainers cos we train in them, they're called trainers cos back in the day when not everything needed it's own category, you had boots, shoes, slippers, sandals and trainers !
The world was a simpler place then.
It used to be all trees round here, ya know ?!?

In Australia they're sneakers not trainers unless you're a head and then the slang comes into it.
