The Xmas works-do -
Daddys Girl - 16-12-07
It's that time of year again... urgh.
Has anyone been subjected to theirs yet?
Had mine already - was only good because it was it was on one of my last days in the office (as I've buggered off work for Xmas early!) But it was bad on too many levels - long wait for food / restaurant messed up the booking / people finding hair in their food / me getting mouldy cream to put in my coffee... and 2 of us getting food poisoning...
How have you're been so far - or what do you have planned?

we always have two - the 'client friendly' party and the non-client party.
i ended up making drunken speeches at both. surprisingly well received though i found out the next day.
at least this year i didn't puke on myself in a cab, but i did decorate the street in front of my house on thursday night...

Having two is a good thing a I learned this year: we had one a week before hand which was "just us lot" from the office (and our partners) - minus managers. We went for a wicked meal and had more than a few drinks... then had the "excitement" of going to a dodgy Frankie & Benny's the following week...

Don't have one I'm afraid, but to be honest it's not a bad thing.
I hate going out with people from work because usually you only have one thing in common, & that's the job, & people usually talk about it all bloody night! I'm paid to be in their company 37 hours a week, but not paid for the social time, & even at Christmas I don't think I could tolerate any more than that!
I actually get on better with the Security Staff, & would rather spend an evening in their company, a bit more exciting than bloody civil servants!

Amen to that brother!!!
And that is the reason why I have been a contractor for nearly five years now, you don't have to deal with all the "office politics" which usually surfaces at the Xmas party where the corporate climbers are endlessly laughing at the boss's crap jokes.
