Tips for customizing your Superstars -

Tried searching for this, but couldn't find anything...
Does anyone have any tips for Superstar customization?
I just bought the 35th anniversary adicolor's (all white) and a couple of work mates told me they have to be customized, especially since they come with markers.
So, since I work at a design company, I thought I would hold a competition here with the winner getting to commit their artwork to my new kicks.
Does anyone have any experience with this? How are the markers to use? Is there something better than the supplied markers? Acrylic paint? Spray paint?
No one here at work 'writes', but they are some pretty sick designers so i'm hoping for something cool.

The best stuff to use is Angelus Leather Paint, you used to be able to order it online from Turtle Feathers but something seems to have gone tit's up with them.
the pens are allright but you need to seal it with a good quality acrylic finisher afterwards, preferably with an airbrush.

Dont use pray paint. Wont last long! Angelus leather paint is amaizing. I have seen and used some good recipies mixing acrylic, acetone, textile medium, and sometimes speedball ink. Paint markers seem to get sticky. There is alot of prep work involved with anything other than the markers and a good clear coat. I might just go that way and wear them for special occasions only.

thanks for the tips, fellas.
have to admit, i'm half tempted not to touch them. they're blindingly white! and they're 35th's so if they get fkd up i'll be kinda pissed.
maybe i'll pick up a plain, all white pair of SS from the bay for this.

I use an airbrush with my customs, and I use Createx Airbrush paint. You can order it online from here

I always get my stuff from these guys. pretty good value and good products. Craft knife/scalpel blades and a shit load of masking tape are also handy, plus acetone to rub the shoes down with first.
My advice is to get hold of a cheap second hand pair of white SS and experiment.
Good luck mate.

Yo Zwer,
Sneaks got the wizdom for the custom jobs - I agree the leather spray paint, airbrush, tons 'o masking tape, acetone to wipe, scalpels, and plenty o' patience for the custom worx...the markers would work, but the 'look' isn't as nice as with paint...kinda what your kids (if you have any) would come up with on their coloring books, but on your 35th's instead!!!
I bought one each of plain ol' all blacks and all whites (like $40 each a few yrs ago) to customize when I got the time...will hopefully get around to the projects sometime this summer - was meant as 'tribute' shoes to my kids - tastefully done of course...will practice on my Nikes used for cutting the lawn!
Check out our local Curry's Art shop or down around Queen/Spadina for supplies if ya interested in DIY - but it sounds like a better deal getting talented colleagues to work em...

Sorry burly, but CTs customs forum is old news. Plus, it's about 98% N*ke. Seems most of these peoples imagination runs as far as colouring the panels on a pair of AF1s with marker pens! *yawn*
