Old bike to New bike, in one afternoon! - Sneakerphile - 10-03-07

Step 1:
Take one last look at old bike (and wish you had cleaned it a little more often!)

Step 2:
Bring out box containing new bike, plus all necessary tools for assembly (including one bottle of Grolsch to help things along)

Step 3:
Open box and think to self "this may take me slightly longer than anticipated!"

Step 4:
Ensure that you are wearing appropriate footwear for the job

Step 5:
Work your ass off for 5 hours (because you will shear the bolt which secures the headset in half, so you will have to take off the one from your old bike and put this in it's place. Then you will put the rear tyre on backwards and have to do that again. Plus, it will take you ages to get the brakes set just right) and then step back and look at what you have done

Now all you have to do is take better care of this one and clean it more regularly (more than 4 times a year!)

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

- mr.pure - 10-03-07

The other one barely looked ridden.
I'll have to keep my eyes open for you boppin' around.
Assuming you do actually bop around.
Is the gyro for show or do you do the odd framewhip ?

- Sneakerphile - 10-03-07

I'll be totally honest with you MrP, I'm not all that agile!
I love BMXs, always have, but I only got a decent one (the green one) a couple of years ago, and I haven't learnt any tricks.
I need to find somewhere I can practice without getting laughed at by kids 20 years younger than me that can do tailwips, grinds and manuals without breaking a sweat!
I really use it to go from my house to the trainstation and back every day. Occasionally I just go for a ride to nowhere in particular just for the hell of it.
Plus, it looks WAY cooler that one of those fucking fold-up bikes I see guys taking on the train Very Happy

Call me a pretender, but fuck it, I don't care. No one out there knows that I can't ride like Dave Mirra!!!

- sniperschool - 10-03-07

now that is a trick...truly awesome...i just got a GT performer back from the police yesterday...had it stolen but found it outside an odeon a week ago...they took it away until i could prove that it was mine...trouble we had UV marked it with 'die pig die' and 'fuck the police' plus a bunch of other funny things that seemed less funny when you have to go and tell them to a not smiling PC in order to get your whip back...everything stripped off it...it was known as the 'dark prince'...looks like shit now...let me know if you want to put some paint on a back and i will try and get it to you...mailing your shots to some friends now...you got skillz...S/.

- mr.pure - 10-03-07

Shame/funny about the first bit, haven't got a clue what you're going on about with the last bit.

- sniperschool - 10-03-07

mr pure..that would be because of two reasons...firstly i don't type so well...lots of errors...and secondly when i do i write in some dumb code...really though...what i meant to say was that i have a few BMXs that i would like someone with a talent for spraying to work on...hope that clears things up some...S/.

- Teaj - 10-03-07

Laughing Laughing

Would have loved to seen the cops face!

.....I had to do a similar thing with my Pulp Fiction 'Bad Mother Fucker' wallet

Laughing

- sniperschool - 10-03-07

was so bad...they refused to give it back to me at first...took my 3 trips to the station before i got it back...we covered the frame with in UV pen with every 'anti law' slogan we could think of because everytime i have a bike stolen they never do a thing about it...but they got thier own back...i am 6'3" and yet they classed it in the incident report as a kids bike...smooth...S/.

- Effel - 11-03-07

At the moment i'm switching between my 8 pack (street setup, brakeless supra es) Mongoose Subject (bought for 20, Used as basic taxi) and my project haro(which is shit, but in the end will be a dirt/park rig). All of which look fooked beyond measure, and are kept in an already cramped room.
Would you flog the green haro Peter?

- Sneakerphile - 11-03-07

Sorry Eff, i'm keeping the old rig for parts. Already had chain and brake pads off it for the new bike, and apart from being a grubby fucking mess, the rest of it's not ins bad nick!
FYI, the new one only cost me ?165 from http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/

- Effel - 11-03-07

Grubby? Irts in better condition than the '06 subject i have.

- olstar - 12-03-07

i havent ridden a bike in years! Laughing

i prefer your old one too Very Happy

RE: Old bike to New bike, in one afternoon! - Effel - 15-05-07

You still got the green un? My pimped out rides are a bit too sought after for my liking atm, whats your (hopefully low) price if so?

RE: Old bike to New bike, in one afternoon! - llcoolgee - 15-05-07

How much fun is it, trying to get the tension right on u-brakes? after all the years i've been riding it is the one thing that fucks me up. Dont forget to take it into your nearest bike shop and ask them to "true up" your wheels as factory constructed ones tend to be quite loose and will buckle fairly quickly.
I ride a 24" dk general lee over here and still have my 20" general lee at mothers back in the uk which is gonna be donated to my nephew when he's big enough.

Peace
Coolgee

RE: Old bike to New bike, in one afternoon! - mr.pure - 15-05-07

I'll tell you.
No. I'll show ya.
