On the plus side I missed him because I was buying new jeans. On the minus side I was buying new jeans because I gave all of mine except one pair away the other day. On the plus side I gave them all away because they were too big because I've lost 30 lbs since the summer.

Good to hear Lorrie! Dieting or..?

Yeah. I had had a big weight loss a year or two ago, but gained a bit of it back and then held steady between 245-250. This summer I finally decided to take the last of it off and I'm currently sitting between 217-220.
This might seem a lot to you guys, but I'm a decently sized fella and at a 36" waist, pretty happy.
And it was all down to changing my eating habits. I always walk a lot (min 5km a day) and lift weights pretty regularly. Moved to 5-6 small meals throughout the day, with the help of a nutritionist and the site myfitnesspal.com

If you wanna try something different, go spend a bit of time reading at leangains.com
Only way I've been able to drop fat. Couldn't do the whole 6 meals a day thing I was just always so so hungry. Now I only eat in an 8 hour window usually two meals and a snack meal (huge amounts of food though)
Good results though mate. Impressive efforts there

6 meals isn't for everyone. It actually takes a fair amount of time out of my day just finding/preparing food and eating. Throw in a couple long and/or off-site meetings and it's 3 times a day if I'm lucky. The upside is that it just adds to the weight loss.
You might switch to it once you graduate to man-sized weights, Nik.

Have a read of the popular articles including the leangains guide, one about leptin and set point, and also alcohol. Very good reads (with sources) no broscience

Congrats on the weight loss, Lorrie!
I found the whole glycemic index thing to be the real deal for me. No white flour, rice, or starch-y stuff.(I eat lots of sweet potatoes, tho) Only whole grains. Lots of protein. No juice. Don't eat crap. Exercise. Lots of interval cardio and circuit stuff. All body weight exercises.(pull-ups, push-ups, etc.) Cycling.
The shit just works. It's simple but it sure as hell ain't easy.
I was never very heavy but after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in '06 I fucking changed everything. Keep the stress low. Get enough sleep. No booze, either.
Dropped about 23 pounds and got to around 9% body fat.

There is no reason to eat six meals a day. Studies have shown it does nothing to increase your metabolism... It's just one of those brah myths that keeps getting pushed around. I'll keep with my two massive meals a day and stay happy
preparing six + meals was consuming so much of my time...

Wow, that sounds like some serious discipline guys.
Lorrie the six meals thing sounds loads better for you. Wish I was as disciplined (especially with the Vino and Pasta), but I guess you have got to really want it or need it to make a pemanent lifestyle change.
I was hill walking and doing free weights three or four times a week last year and dropped some pounds (and beefed up LOL), but had a string of cold /flu virus this Autumn and have let it slip. Tsk tsk.. I miss it tho, which is a good sign that I wasn't just punishing myself but really enjoyed it.
Will check those sites out Nik.
Keep it up lads!

It's really interesting stuff. Anyways, I've put a stack of weight on on this holiday... But maybe if my diet goes as planned ill post a picture in march of any results. Was going really well until now... And it's good to read some actual studies that backed up people's wOrds!! Great read on the alcohol topic. Highly recommended LOL if you like your drink
