EZ's list of what to consider when buying a laptop:
1. Does it have a THREE year warranty? If not is it possible to buy one and how much?
2. Does the keyboard and mouse feel OK for YOU? Some touch pads for example are way too sensitive and register even the slightest touch (sometimes even keeping your palm close enough might be too much!!!)
3. Is the price right for you?
And I have to stress that this is the order. If there is no three year warranty, forget it.
However there is an exception Mac and Lenovo T-series. You are not going to be disappointed with either of these.

I have a Compaq presario, apart from the fact the battery needs replacing it seems sturdy enough.

As it happens, yes, it can handle all that a three year old can throw at it

Don't know about you lads in the UK/Europe, but cpu warranties are crap here in Canada - generally 1 yr parts and labor - the stores fcuk you for more money by charging you $100-350 for additional multi-yr warranties, on top of the manufacturers 1 yr....I usually refuse this for electronics, appliances and such - a cash grab....

The lid on my presario fell off then the CD drive packed inn, then it got eaten by a virus. It last a grand total of four years. NEVER AGAIN. I now have a nice sony vaio. No complaints so far.

Yes, that's what I meant
I'm not a mac user by the way but I'm sure it's 100 times better than any pc. But I'm afraid I'm getting a hard time learning the mac, I have worked with Windows too long. And I HATE iTunes!!! I'm afraid the rest of the software is like that as well.

It'd be two weeks before you asked yourself why you didn't jump sooner, maybe less !

Maybe you're right. But no Mac and no PC for me at the moment. I'm waiting for the new iPad. That'll be my new 'laptop'. I still have a normal pc upstairs which is a couple of months old.
