Yeah - I saw a guy running in the park barefoot last night. Not for me. I'm running 5 days a week at the moment and my legs are tired and sore enough as it is.

Those "shoes" were worse.

With the shoes that Ben posted you need to re-learn how to run so that your foot strikes more like a sprinter (forefoot) than a distance runner. People do it but it's definitely not for me and most people that I know that have tried to switch have switched back.

Odd comment, Lor. I'm sure most fighting forces around the world would disagree with that. I must have been weak during the English half marathon today in Warrington as it was 23 degrees for the most part and a water bottle was de rigour. Mo Farah and Gebrselassie might be able to cope but for the rest of us "idiots" it stops you from collapsing.
I find it's not the fluid you carry but how much you take on board. Sip, sip, sip all the way.
fc and chucking it over my head as well.

It was a BBC panorama called the truth about sports products, still available on the iplayer if anyone is that interested, basically said that its all a load marketing crap and sensible footwear and water are just fine even if your a top athlete.

Hey Cod - didn't they have water stations on the course?
Obviously if you don't have any access to water and you're running a half then you should carry some, but otherwise you should be well enough hydrated that one or two stops at the water station should be enough.
I was mostly referring to the 5km people with water bottles strapped right around their waists.

I don't carry water when I train
