No suedes in your collection?
I used to be carefree, much like you, oh yes! Ruined about 4 pairs of suedes that way and since then when the rain unexpectedly starts I'm away like a greyhound
Nothing worse than ruining your kicks unccessarily - if you can avoid doing so, why would you not?

I usually check the weather, and I've got a coupla pairs I won't wear if there's a chance of crap, but I have, on two occasions, grabbed a couple of plastic bags from work to cover my shoes to walk out to the car with after an unexpected weather change
I've actually done that before! Should have put it in the poll!
Rubber bands at the top of two carrier bags - job's a good un.
Makes you look like a tramp that's gone renegade, mind.

Yes I have some suede Nikes and rain doesn't wreck them just gets them wet?
The acid rain in your area must be a killer.

Is rain as bad for nubuck as it is for suede?

I always check the weather before I go out. If there's any chance of rain at all, the suedes stay at home, only the leathers get to go out. If it's gona rain quite a bit, then dark leather with dark laces only (you can never seem to get white laces clean again once dirty water spalshes over them!) If it's REALLY gonna piss down, then fuck, I stay at home...I hate the rain!
Fortunately, I have enough pairs to allow for practically all weather conditions.

check the weather by looking out the window, weighed up with if it looks anything but dry then I won't wear them if I have to go out at lunch or anyhting further than home to the car, car to the office, and back again

I'm not Southern, I'll have you know.
If you can go out in the rain with suede kicks on and not care you've got to be
1. rich
2. wearing an old pair.
Don't think it matters which part of the country you're in if it pisses it down and you've got suede kicks on, personally.
Rain = kryptonite to suede

Bollocks!
How about 3. - Not a fucking pedant
Rain does not ruin suede unless you plan on walking around in it for a week, a bit of TLC and they'll be good as new!
