I'll know 'em when I see 'em.
It was too long ago on Ebay for the picture to still be available.

I am fairly new to this game. Have never bought anything before from Ebay. Right now I'm collecting bargains only. But there are a couple of shoes I am willing to pay more for. For instance the Upper Playgrounds. I have liked them from the beginning I started buying Supes. I was really thrilled a pair appeared on Ebay. And then pooof.... gone. Damn, I was really pissed, especially because the seller sold them under the counter. Other bidders didn't have any chance. Okay, there were more people interested, but at least I would have had a chance. I thought: "oke, that's the way to go when you REALLY want a pair of supes". Apparently not everybodey feels this way. Thank god for that.
Allthough we are a tight community, apparently it's everyone for themselves.

I am pretty sure most of us would do or have allready make an offer for the seller to end the auction early, sometimes when you have waited years you can't take the chance on missing out, my problem i have with all this is lots of people come on here with a bit of money, buy everything in sight for a while and then disapear, basically depriving people with a genuine long term love of superstars the chance to own that elusive pair, this kind of behavior just gets peoples backs up!

I've got my fair share of supes off the bay recently through honest bidding and BINs and still waiting to get a few cheapo pairs when I get back from my Christmas vacation. Then I'll surely stop buying supes at least for a while as my quota is filled for months to come.
Just in the past some weeks and months I have noticed an increasing number of supes I've been looking, have gone under the counter even when there's been multiple bids on them so it's not nice to the rest of us but I can somewhat understand such actions with rare pairs.

mate if there is a pair u have been waiting on and you know you arent going to see them again, i dont see anything wrong with making an offer. i did this once, cos i new id never see em again. and im glad i did cos the seller was taking them off cos he had already got offers, so i considered myself lucky to get in.
but cracky, you hit the nail on the head with that one.

I think it's shitty to end an ebay auction when there's bids already placed, especially with a day to go or whatever, takes the fun right out of the chase. Has happened a couple of times recently. Daft of sellers too. It's also a shame when heads on here push the price up for each other on an auction but at least that seems fair.
I'm not casting aspersions on anyone in paticular at all by the way, Lurking has been very sound and honest with me about what he's been after. (even if he did snaffle that pair of nylons....)

I'm still bitter because it happened to me, maybe a year or so ago a member joined, was all over every thread/post for a couple of weeks, during which time i was watching two pairs, both of which i was going to bid on because i did'nt have much money at the time so as much as i needed to own them i needed them cheap to be able to afford them, this guy sniped both pairs, they turned up in the postman thread in due course, now this member has'nt been on for ages and has more than likely trashed both pairs, not knowing what he's got, fucks me right off a tell thee!!!!

It's really bitter but what can we do about it. If a pair you love pops up on the bay, what are we gonna do next now that we know some of us try to buy under the counter??? Do we play nice and wait and hope the seller will keep his product on the bay or do we do the same and make a personal offer???

Plenty of people join up, new to the game, hear us talking about certain shoes and then, just cos some of us want them, decide they want them as well and go after them with their credit card flaming when, really, they ain't that fussed cos they only found out they existed a month or so ago.
That's what fucks me off about this forum.
No marks buying rare arse Superstars when they only started wearing, or collecting them in the last 20 minutes !

Pure, as I mentioned before I am new to this game, I started collecting a few months ago. But I only buy what I really like. Not because they are rare. I would never buy those nylons for instance
So I hope I am not one of those guys you were talking about in your previous post.
Spite, did the Tates also disappear on the bay? That really sucks.

Well I’m not sure what you want me to do, didn’t realise the severity of it all, I have been collecting for a while, but if you want me to go, then that is what I will do, and don’t worry mr.spite our collab is finished and I will post at the earliest opportunity.
All the best, David.

There's no question that this place encourages the buying of superstars, even if it's just legitimizing the addiction. And it's not hard to get carried away if you've got a bit of coin. Personally, knowing that someone had been sniffing around a certain pair of footpatrols actually spurred me on to dig deep and buy them, had to sell a couple of things to do it but it had to be done. When they were released in '05 there was no hope, I was on my arse skint with my first kid on the way - took me til he'd started school to actually get the little beauties.
I'm the same with the camo ape stars - one day, one day.
But then I can't see the fuss about any other stlye of sneaker really - if there's no shell they're just trainers for me.
Merry Christmas!
ps: I'm feeling a bit bad for Lurking taking the brunt of this, it's a free market after all, he seems like a sound fella and he has been significantly contributing to ssdb since he's been about.
Just no more under the counter dealings when the bidding's started, eh!

Comeone everybody. Let's keep the Christmas spirit up. It sucked what happened. But is it worth somebody leaving the forum for that? I don't think so. It's fucking shoes we are talking about
David, if it's up to me, you are welcome to stay.I'm still waiting for that that hookup
.
I will find those UP's eventually.
