Pokey I worked for sky a few years back and I got hundreds of calls just like yours. Usually the person would threaten the leave and we would transfer them to the turnaround department were they had the best deals, mostly free engineer call out or 25% for 3 months or something like that. I suggest you call them threaten to leave and wait till your sent to the turnaround dept before asking for any offers, it may take you awhile on the phone but its better than paying £60.

Cheers i've had a look on ebay there's afew sky+ boxes on there i can probably get for £30
You'll probably know is it just a case of me replacing the box..shoving me card in and away we go its working again??

I would still give them a call that way you know your getting proper sky engineer out and it would probably be free no harm in trying.

Pokey, ring and threaten to cancel. I had the same issue with a HD box that had gone over it's 2 year warranty. They wanted a £65 call out fee that I wasn't having at all.
I went from department to department but finally got put through to someone saying ' look, stay with us and we'll replace the box for free. How does 3 months sky for half price sound? '
My current HD box is on the way out I think, so will be doing it again soon. I'm not fussed If I have to see it through though If they call my bluff

Figured out why my sky+ ain't working!!!Just checked at the back of the house and the neighbours ave some scaffolding up...which got me thinking when the fook did that go up!!
Yesterday!!! I'ts right up against my dish so blocking the fooking signal no wonder i didn't bloody work.
Been taken down later today so fingers crossed my sky's working again and that's the problem solved
(((hugs his sky sports channels))

If that doesn't work pokey then definitely go with the threat to quit.
Tell them you've had an amazing offer from Virgin (i know how that sounds
) including a free V+ box and free installation
even that they've promised to reduce the amount your currently paying. I was offered a good Sky deal so Virgin Media beat it by miles,
so my bro rang up Sky and told them he'd been offered the same deal as me by Virgin so Sky sorted him out really well too.
Gotta play these skank arse companies off each other.

Check Sky TV signal quality by pressing "Services" on the Skybox handset, then press "4" for "System Setup" and "6" for "Signal Test". Typical readings off a Sky box in dry weather under clear skies in the south of the UK are about 70 - 80% signal strength and 60 - 70% signal quality.

My Mac has been playing up a little lately cos I think I've got far too much shit on my desktop.
The mouse freezes and takes anywhere from 10 - 30 seconds to come back.
It just happened right before the end of an auction, one of two I was watching.
Missed the first one then closed the laptop to try and get the mouse to work, mouse came back but Firefox froze because the laptop had been closed so I missed the second auction as well !
How this thing doesn't have a Superstar sized hole in it is anyone's guess.
I must be growing up.

Always felt I had more control and could react to last minute bids if I do it in person.
