I've not owned a car in years so nowadays I mainly walk, ride a bike or use public transportation and if I really need a car, I'll borrow one from friends or parents. Finally managed to find also pics of my two other old rides as I posted the Mk3 in the What else the postie brought thread a few days ago.
'68 Opel Kadett Rallye
- Was my first car, 1995-1998. Bought it before I even had my license so I could work on it and get all the work done by the time I've got the license.
- Some mild customizing was made like new side mirrors; the passenger side didn't originally even have one!, and a fresh new scarlet paintjob when the original shade of red was a bit faded.
- When it was time to part with it, at the time I was in an Opel fan club so I managed to sell it in a few days to a UK member who loved what I had done with the car. Must have been nice to drive an Opel among all the Vauxhalls, with the steering wheel also on the "wrong side".
- Because I couldn't find any pics from my pic stash, I actually asked him some pics of it a while back and got a few nice shots (the ones here) which he said were taken soon after he had got it on his driveway in the UK in '98. He still has the car tho but his missus has managed to get a few dents on it.
- The rear view shot still shows a yellow sticker I jokingly kept there. It says in Finnish "Opel on pop" which in English would simply be "Opel is pop".
- Noticed one thing the guy had done tho, added a dual end piece to the exhaust pipe, when it left my yard with a normal single pipe.
'75 Mk1 GTi
- My second car, 1998-2001. A new paint job, timeless BBS rims and a new front panel/grill which made it look newer than it actually is. From what I remember, the registration showed it was initially registered in Oct '75, even when the GTi wasn't commercially introduced in Europe until April '76.
- Some minor technical tweaks and improvements were also made to make it better to drive and handle and naturally gave the engine also an overhaul for more power, better performance and economy.
'96 Mk3 GTi
- My third and currently the latest car, 2001-2005. Tuned this one quite a bit especially for its engine department, breaks and chassis.
- Have so many precious memories with this one. *sigh*
I've always liked to work on my cars visually and technically to give them my touch.
