The adidas Superstar is just a classic, iconic sneaker, in the same way the Chuck Taylor is. The design is basically the same as it was in 1969 and while they release a number of different colorways and collaborations and designs, they don't stink of the same commercialism that Nike does.
I grew up in Stan Smiths and Gazelles, so I'm late to the Superstar party, but in a way I'm glad. Superstars are obviously worn by kids, but they're certainly not a kid's sneaker. At 35 it's still easy to rock a Superstar and look like an adult - they're simple, but sophisticated. You don't look like a wannabe baller in Superstars, nor do they look, for the most part, overly flashy. It's not a surprise, perhaps, that the most expensive Superstars, the Footpatrols, the Neighborhoods, etc are actually really low key. That to the common person you're just wearing sneakers. But to those in the know, well, your game is tight.

The original leather basketball sneaker.
Every "clique" has worn at 'em at some time.
They're timeless, they started a revolution, the clothing/fashion industry wouldn't be the same without 'em.
And the can stand up to a sh*tload of beatings, whether skating, basketball, or everyday use.
Definitely money's worth.

And then give me permission to write what they say in my case study
If anyone could I'd be so grateful =]
If you can, try and beg/steal/borrow a copy of the Superstar 35th book. Tons of opinions about the soops and loads of facts I didn't even know about.
Case Study? Yeah I vaguely remember those at uni, cost me a fortune in hangovers.

I started with my infatuation with Superstars in the early 80's when the playgrounds were awash with Sambas and Kicks and the terraces were full of Trimm Trabs and Gazelles. Being a teenager that liked to be different from the flock [you couldn't get much different than the rubber toed shells] and with my ever growing love for electro and the related fashions coming over from the states at that time I started to rock Superstars and I've never been without a pair since.
A timeless design, one for the kids and old codgers like myself, they are without doubt one of the most iconic fashion items of not only the modern era but of all time.
To sum up I have always felt like one cool funking mofo when I've got them on and just like 25 years ago they put a smile on my face whenever I tie those laces and straighten my kegs over them.

Got to agree with Pirate that they ain't the most comfortable trainer in the world but looking beyond that, what Spite said, I'm a B Boy, at least in the graffiti sense and they are a classic B Boy trainer. End of !
