Anyone got an Ipad 2,3 or whatever number we're upto??
Worth having??
How does it exactly work??off your internet connection you have at home??
Can you plug like external HD drives into it or anything??
Just asking as they've got Apple iPad 2 Tablet PC, A5 Chip 1GHz, 16GB Flash, Wifi, Black, iOS5 with that Icloud
thing on ebay for £299 and i want something just to mess about on which doesn't take up much room as this laptop will be going upstairs into the loft/adi room/office
p.s Go easy i'm not technically minded at all

Wait.
If you're going to New York later in the year, get a 16gb new one while you're over there.
With the exchange rate it's about £320.
You can plug in a card reader but I'm not sure hard drives.
It runs off your internet unless you go for the 3G version which would need a sim.

Hmm right..Not going NYC till next year..
Think my laptops on its way out tbh so was looking for a decent alternative for fb,ebay and ere kinda thing but taking up less space/no desk needed type thing.

I have a iPad 2 but i can`t without my laptop.
I use my iPad when i`m to lazy to start up my laptop or when i have to search fast for something. For work and such i use my laptop.
With my iPad i have some apps i use like the IMDB app, a database for my movies and mostly games.
Sometimes i take my iPad to school but there are not much study books available in Dutch language. But my school uses "blackboard" which is better in use on my iPad than on my laptop.
So mostly i use my iPad for entertainment.

I got the 3 the day after it came out and I fucking love it. It's my first one. I got the 32 gig with the 4G LTE. The 4G is crazy fast, for now. Who knows what it'll be like when everyone has it? We have WiFi in the house so I turn off the 4G data when I'm home to minimize usage. Any kind of external HD would kind of defeat the purpose of the mobility of the thing, IMO. If I am doing anything that would require that (photo/video editing) I'd just use my MacBook Pro. Battery life is outstanding so far. I charge it every other day and that's with the thing on the whole time.
SSDB works great on the thing, BTW.
(as does FB, Twitter apps, Ebay, etc.)

If you have the IPad2, its not worth the bump up...wait until the next one at least...only key diff seems to be the screen resolution...heard it gets hot easier too....
Poj, if just using the thing for some apps i.e. FB, SSDB etc...why not get a RIM Playbook? great pricing on these...my sis picked it up for this very reason re internet use only...64GB for $299 CDN ($150 for the 16, $200 for the 32) - if you can find it...still great hardware and s/w behind the company, regardless of the bad press lately....

Just one thing to add to what Ken was saying and that's that he has no idea what he is talking about.

Yep. Ken is stupid.
I've had all 3 and tbh, the step up from the 2 to the 3 isn't that great, unless you're really picky about having the sharpest screen. I've read for countless hours on the 1 & 2 with no problem.
Love my iPad, but it's not really a computer replacement.

Just remember that LTE/4G might not work in UK. Not sure but at least it doesn't work in Finland.
Also you can use the internet connection of your mobile phone wirelessly so that feature might not be worth the money. But it all depends.
External hard drives wont work with iPad at least that is the case if you don't jail brake it first.
Which iPad should you get?

Isn't an iPad just a big iPhone that you can't make calls on? Waste of time/money, buy a decent mac air or similar.

Not really, fella. That was the argument when they came out, but they're definitely more than a big iPhone.
My agency is doing a lot of app dev for our biggest client and it's pretty essential for me for work.

C'mon, Ken! Joke! It's defiintely NOT a computer replacement. But I'd hate to schlep my computer around just to do some of the things that I do on the iPad.
Pokey, what about the MacBook Air?

Thanks for all the advice..
This lappy is on its way out so will need replacing anyways now atm i have all my adidas stuff for ebay and my own collection plus my computer/office type thang in my bedroom but now i'm in a position to finally convert the loft into my adidas room/office i pretty much want my bedroom to be just that with no work stuff or adidas stuff innit that includes desk/comp/lappy etc etc..
But at the same time i'd like just summat small that i can have nearby should i just wanna check summat/mess about on FB or look on here or whatever without having to go up into the office to do it...
I just thought an ipad would probably be the best thing size wise and whatever and easily cope with that kinda thing..
