Holy Grail superstars -
Obi - 22-02-10
Hey guys,
As some of you have seen, i'm new here. So please forgive me if it's a lame thread, or discussed over and over, I wasn't abe to find something similar in the search..
I am a watch collector and lover too, and for Rolex there are COMEX submariners, double red seadwellers and panda Daytona's as holy grails.
But what are the real holy grails in Superstars?
Is 'Top Secret' the number one 'to have'? Or other 35th anniversary models? Or are there even more rare examples of suups one needs to own in a lifetime..? I am not an expert (yet), willing to learn!
Please share me your thoughts
PS. this thread is worthless without pics, so to start off:

Ah yes. The Top Secrets. Some would consider them the 'Holy Grails' but because they are more or less unwearable there are other pairs that people might want more.
At least one of our members has these.

Peoples "grails" vary, not everyone is after the same supe as each other. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the top secrets. For a long time the Upper Playground 35ths were my "grail", now the Yoda superstars are.

Samo: Nice! I think we're the other way around, I have looked for the Yodas (and Darth vader) for a long time and found them.. And now looking for the Upper Playground, how cool are those!?
Super sk8: Thanx! Checking as we speak
Top Secrets, wanted to place a bid on ebay, but those are one size too big for me.. Not wearable? Hmm, that sucks
What's the use of (expensive) shoes if you can't really wear them..

As Samo says depends on the person, I doubt I'd ever buy the top secrets even if I found them for a fiver at a car boot, not my thing at all. For me its probably the Warhols or Berlins, I'd love a pair of reds or oranges as well.

I'm with Samo on this one, not everyone is after the same supes. Personally I'm not buying supes just for the fact that they are rare, I collect supes that I think look nice and that I want to rock. I want to enjoy my supes, and I can't enjoy a pair that I only buy just for the fact that they are a limited edition while I think they look like shite.

Marco82: Totally agree, but it has a special ring about it if a shoe has a story, is really hard to get..

Obi - FYI did you notice (or do you know) that those pics on Shellpro.net are majority sk8?
And Sammy, really Yodas???? What sz were you again?

My grails now are probably the NYLs and the white/snakeskin ss1s.
Those are the two I'd pay nearly anything for.

Shame you've got such big feet Lorrie or we could have got some swaps on. . .
My grails were footpatrol's.
But it varies, I messed up getting the navy vins on release and it ended up taking a year to track a pair down in my size for a decent price.
Now . . . I couldn't say, I still love the 35th consortiums, especially the d-mop's, but the chances are slim and I can't justify spending that much money. If I was minted I'd be all over them and the super ape stars.
